Police officer Espinoza from Dunwoody PD came by the neighborhood on Sunday. He said there has been a rash of break in on both sides of Happy Hollow - simple stuff - someone taking things from open cars and any doors open in houses. No breaking of glass, etc - but definitely stolen items. Bottom line - lock car doors when on the street and lock doors and windows at home.

Provided by the Dunwoody PD via Neighborhood Watch Wednesday, Jul 22 email (3:00pm) An attempted burglary today at the 4800 block of Ashford Club Drive. The lookout is as follows: Two black males- We only have a description of one. He is in his early 20’s, approximately 6’00”, medium build, and medium complexion. He was wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants. There was a tattoo of a name on the right side of his neck. They were last seen driving a late 90’s champagne minivan. The male attempted to kick in the back door, but the resident was home and the alarm sounded. They fled the area. If you see anyone matching this description, call 911 immediately.
Wednesday, July 22 email (8:30pm) We had another burglary reported, possibly same individuals. This burglary occurred on Sirron Court off of Chamblee Dunwoody Road. I had a resident call in possibly seeing the van entering the area of Ashford Club Drive with the burglary I reported earlier. Of course, these incidents are in the same vicinity. A flat screen T. V. was taken from this residence. Please call in if you see anything suspicious, especially this van driving around your neighborhood that is occupied with multiple black males. Late 90’s model minivan(possibly champagne colored).
Thursday, Jul 23 email (7:38am) Ladies and Gentlemen, Just a follow up on yesterday’s burglaries. They occurred between 7AM to 2PM. The suspect(s) initially knocked on a resident’s door and asked if they could landscape her yard. She became suspicious when they did not have any landscape equipment. They were obviously casing the house. All of them had pry marks on the back doors, and once again, flat screen T.V’s were the item of choice. Please keep a look out for the vehicle description I gave out yesterday. Call 911 if you see it riding around your neighborhood.
NW Coordinators- All of you are doing a fantastic job with disseminating information to your communities. On a side note, I am receiving a ton of e-mails from individuals inside your communities. Please express the importance of going through the coordinators so I can get timely information back to you. I will keep you informed if we locate anything!!

Date: Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 7:53 AM Last night, one of our officers arrested an individual breaking into cars at one of our apartment complexes. These individuals were professionals with the equipment they were in possession with. Anyway, it was a good bust for our night shift officers! This is still under investigation, so I am releasing limited information. The American flag and flag holder at the Redfield subdivision has been stolen several times. A ladder is needed to take this flag…If you have any information about this theft, please notify the Dunwoody Police. An entering auto was reported in the parking deck behind Taco Mac. Another laptop was taken along with misc. items.

There was a break in on 6/29/09 at 1 pm on the 2800 block of Fontainebleau Dr. Even though the resident has a sign by the mailbox indicating they have a Burgler Alarm service the perpetrators entered thru the front door using a tool of some type, probably a Pry Bar. The alarm went off and the individuals were still bold enough to enter the bedroom and do a brief search for valuables. They left quickly only taking (as far as we know now) a non working lawn mower from the garage. The Dunwoody Police responded within minutes of the alarm. There are many of our neighbors out of town this week so let's all up the ante on reporting any suspicious activity or vehicles. Make notes about what you see, record vehicle descriptions. Even better (this is what I do) take a picture of these vehicles with your digital camera, keep them a few months, look for a reported crime where your picture might link a suspect to the crime committed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, As some of you are aware, we have had a recent "rash" of burglaries in the Dunwoody North area. Let me assure you that we are using all available resources to locate these individuals. The Dunwoody Police are taking these crimes very seriously and will not rest until they are caught. The burglaries are mostly occurring during the day and the suspects are using forced entry. The main products that are taken are flat screen televisions and laptop computers. Please review the following suspect information to pass along: Green van w/windows around (not paneled). `Bondo' left front fender, unknown drive-out tag, a dead tail light "maybe left side' driven by a young black female in her 20's. A white 4-door Ford (possibly Focus) or Mercury equivalent, with a tall thin B/F, and up to 3 B/M's, one being 6 foot plus, 230-240 lbs. and the other two being medium height and weight. The detectives are following a few leads now. If I have any more information, I will pass it along. We have received some calls from several residents (thank you for keeping an eye out). If any of these vehicles are seen in the area, call 911 immediately and request a Dunwoody officer to come out. Please do not call the front desk. Once again, thank you for the e-mails and concerns for our community. Together we can catch these individuals committing these awful crimes. On another note, we are trying to update our www.crimereports.com web site as quickly as we can. Please understand that our "report management system" has not been installed. This causes a delay with retrieving, reviewing, and disseminating reports. We will have it up and running shortly. Thank you! Sgt. Mike Carlson - Dunwoody PD

This was reported to FSTC:
A fellow Dunwoody Resident wanted to share with you what happened to her yesterday after at 5:15pm. She was shopping at Sports Authority in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs, it is the shopping center on the corner of Mt Vernon Hwy and Abernathy. Shops such as Babe-R-Us, Stein Mart, Office Max, Michael's, Movie Theater, Chic-fil-a, etc.
She walked out to her car, and saw her car door wide open, and someone sitting in the driver's seat. It was a black male about 48 or so old, going through her car. He slit her convertible top & unlocked the door.
Her first reaction was, to confront him, asking what he was doing and how got into her car, etc.; He quickly ran away towards the Marta Station which is connected to that particular shopping center.
She consulted with the Sandy Springs police after the incident; they confirmed the fact that, that particular area has a high rate of crime with the Marta Station being so convenient. The police did tell her that confronting him was not the right decision.
They advised her that she should have walked away from the car, and called 911 (and if possible know the physical address of where you are, that was one of the question 911 wanted to know).
These incidents are happening in Dunwoody. Here are 2 more incidents that happened right here in Dunwoody this week-end according to her Insurance Agent. A lady was held at gun point, while demanding her pocket book; another resident had his car stolen out of his garage.

I received this message from Rosemary, who lives next door to the victim in the Ashford Trace neighborhood (off Valley view): Friday, Sept 26th, between 10:30 and 11:30am an intruder entered her next door neighbor's house while she was alone sleeping. There were no visible signs of forced entry but he may have found an unlocked window. He went to her room with a mask on and tied her arms with plastic bands and had her undress. She gave him money and he fled. Because he was wearing a mask she could not identify him.

FSTC Members on Fontainebleau Dr (Waterford side), were ticketed last night at 10:30pm for having a vehicle parked on the side street that leads to a cul-de-sac. As you recall, the Colliers were robbed last November with barely a response from the Dekalb County Police Department regarding the robbery.

Reported by: The Redfield Neighborhood Watch Coordinator: Redfield is located about 4 miles from Fontainebleau.
While taking out the trash around 11:00 pm on 9/31 at the Redfield tennis courts, a teenage boy was assaulted by a stranger with a gun. The assailant was described as an armed, young black male. The injured young man was hit with a gun after turning on the court lights. The assailant demanded his wallet, and when told he was not carrying one, beat the boy with the gun, and then took his Iphone before fleeing. The teenager in question was taken to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with facial fractures, skull & facial lacerations. He's resting at home now while he, his parents, siblings, and neighbors try to comprehend this senseless attack. The mother of this young man said that the police arrived about five minutes after the 911 call was placed, and I am sure many neighbors noted that there was a very visible police presence in Redfield today.
Please keep this boy and his family in your thoughts and prayers. A Redfield Road resident has also reported that his car was broken into on Thursday night. His cellphone was taken, broken in half, and placed in another neighbor's mailbox. Neighbors, please remember to lock up everything. Use your home security system if you have one. If you are walking at night, don't go out alone. Take a spouse, kid, dog, friend - or all of the above - and a cell phone.
Please call 911 IMMEDIATELY if you see ANYTHING suspicious.

It was reported by a Dunwoody Resident that she was at the Panera Bread on July 30, 2008 on Mt. Vernon Road in Dunwoody and witnessed a purse snatching. She was sitting in her car finishing a phone conversation and was parked in a parking spot that overlooked the outdoor patio, this was at 10:30 am. While she was talking on the phone she witnessed a white 6'2 male come from the right side of Panera (near the Scientology building) and run across the patio grabbing two women's purses. There were two sets of women who were eating outside at Panera and the two victims had their purses either on the chair next to them or on the ground next to their feet. After he grabbed the purses he ran to a getaway car on the other side of the big hedges on the left side of the Panera building. A few women followed him and got his license plate number. All of this happened in a matter of 10-15 seconds and there was no stopping him. The police came and they filed a report.

The thief proceeded to Perimeter Mall within 15 minutes and began making charges. Do not leave your purse in your cart!

Purse Snatching: Reported by a resident of Dunwoody: I thought I would share what happened to me on 4/29/08. I had a lovely meal with 6 girlfriends at a Park Place restaurant last night. We had paid the check (with a credit card which I then put back in my wallet). We finished our coffees and I reached for my purse as we said goodnight to each other and discovered it was gone. There were 6 of us and my purse was at my feet between 2 of us. The restaurant and Police reviewed the security tapes and this is what happened. One 40 ish well dressed gentleman kicked my purse away from my feet, the next guy stepped over it , a lady behind kicked it to the side and then the 4th person, another female stopped to pick it up and they were gone. I realized pretty quickly and called my husband to stop all the cards. They had already charged $800 at Wal-mart and $1000 at Target. This happened well within 30 mins. There was 6 of us and not one of us saw it happen, the couple facing me saw nothing and the restaurant staff couldn't believe it. Please be aware of your surroundings, I know we hear it all the time, but it really does matter!

Please be alerted that there have been 2 break-ins during the day in Deerfield within the last 10 days and of another break-in around the corner from Deerfield in the Waterford neighborhood that happened only a few weeks ago.
Here are the Deerfield details: Break-in 1: Cannady Court. Around 7:30 am Saturday December 29th. A ladder was used to enter the home on the second floor. Items were stolen from the home. A Hispanic woman was seen leaving the area running with the items. The home owner was out of town at the time.
Break-in 2: Redbourne Drive. Around 1:30 pm Saturday January 5th. The front door was kicked in and items were stolen from the house. The homeowner was out at the time but not out of town. They do own a dog but he was with them at the time. It seems that this homeowner was watched for when they were leaving. The description of the person, who was seen by a neighbor, was a large built African-American man wearing dark clothes and driving a dark sedan.
The Waterford break-in was during weekday morning hours. The front door was also kicked in. Items were taken. The homeowners were at work and they do have a dog.
